Cannafair brings industry, retail, creators and community to Düsseldorf from 21 to 23 August 2026. For brands, however, a trade show is not self-executing. A booth creates visibility; a coherent campaign creates memory, qualified conversations and content that keeps working after the final day.
Planning should therefore begin long before the hall doors open. An effective Cannafair campaign connects three phases: anticipation before the event, relevant encounters on site and consistent follow-up.
Before Cannafair: create a reason to pay attention
Paper, filter, vaporizer, eRig, glass, seed, substrate and grow-technology brands compete with more than their direct category rivals. They compete with every visual stimulus, conversation and programme item around them.
Preparation must answer one clear question: why should the audience visit, test or speak to this particular brand?
A robust pre-event phase includes:
- clear positioning and a specific campaign idea,
- content for retailers, consumers and community channels,
- creator briefs with understandable missions,
- meeting and contact goals for the on-site team,
- measurable links and clear source attribution.
Reach is not a goal by itself. It should lead to a useful action: a conversation, a product demonstration, a qualified enquiry or a later retail contact.
During the fair: connect content and encounters
Good event production does more than document what happened. It creates situations that explain a brand credibly.
Short interviews can clarify the technical differences of a vaporizer. Detail shots can communicate the material and finish of a grinder. A creator can provide cultural context for a paper or filter brand. Grow technology requires clear demonstrations and technically sound statements.
The format should follow the product — not the other way around. Platform rules, regulatory boundaries and the actual audience must be considered from the start.
The Cannafair Culture Weekend
420BRANDS treats the fair as part of a wider window from 20 to 23 August 2026:
- THE TERP ROOM · 20 August: a curated B2B and VIP format by Hanfkranz & 420BRANDS. Access is by personal invitation only; registering interest does not guarantee an invitation.
- Cannafair · 21–23 August: trade-show presence, content production, interviews, creator missions and brand activation in Düsseldorf.
- THE STEAMERS · 21 August: the community night after the fair. THE STEAMERS is a Hanfkranz format with 420BRANDS as format partner.
This creates different contact qualities: focused B2B conversations, educational fair interactions and authentic community moments. Not every brand needs to appear in every format. Strategic fit determines the selection.
For creators: a clear mission, not arbitrary placement
Creator marketing in the 420 environment only works when person, product and situation belong together. A campaign should not distribute an interchangeable list of posts.
Clearly defined content missions are more valuable: an interview, technical walkthrough, hosted encounter, event recap or documented brand story. Personal tracking links then show which visits actually came from each collaboration.
After Cannafair: build a campaign cycle from the material
The second utilisation phase starts after the fair. Interviews, product shots and community moments become reels, retail assets, recaps, case content and follow-up communication.
A useful report should capture at least:
- produced and published assets,
- qualified conversations and enquiries,
- visits via campaign and creator links,
- relevant retail and community responses,
- lessons for the next activation.
Counting impressions measures attention. Connecting contacts, content and follow-up actions measures impact.
